Assistant General Counsel, Fixed Income

What you will do

• Provide legal coverage for the Fixed Income Capital Markets business and support sales and trading activity.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on NDAs, engagement letters, commercial agreements, securities offering documents, underwriting documents, and distribution agreements.
• Advise retail and institutional fixed income sales and trading teams on documentation, collateral arrangements, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate responses to litigation matters, subpoenas, discovery requests, and regulatory inquiries.
• Partner with sales, trading, research, investment banking, Compliance, Risk, and other control functions.
• Manage external counsel and contribute to initiatives improving processes, consistency, and risk oversight.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree with strong academic credentials.
• Active bar membership in good standing.
• At least 8 years of relevant legal experience in fixed income capital markets or comparable private practice or in-house work.
• Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory framework applicable to fixed income capital markets, including SEC, FINRA, and MSRB requirements.
• Experience at a major law firm, financial institution, regulator, or self-regulatory organization.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, communication, independent judgment, and risk-management skills.
