Clinical Pharmacist - Ambulatory Care, Casual PRN, Day Shift (Ambulatory Care)

Location: McHenry, Illinois, with occasional floating to hospitals in Huntley and Woodstock. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; no weekends or holidays.

Salary: USD 58.00–84.10 per hour

What you will do

• Identify, prevent, and resolve medication-related problems and provide medication information to healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
• Interpret medication orders, evaluate therapy for interactions and therapeutic appropriateness, and recommend adjustments based on patient condition and laboratory results.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records and comprehensive pharmacy patient profiles, including allergies, diagnoses, laboratory data, and pharmacokinetic parameters.
• Compound, verify, package, label, dispense, and distribute medications, including sterile products, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition.
• Support formulary management, controlled medication inventory, automated dispensing cabinet restocking, emergency medication response, and hazardous waste procedures.
• Deliver education and training, document clinical interventions, and participate in quality improvement and medication use review activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
• Active Clinical Pharmacist license in Illinois through IDFPR required.
• Willingness to learn new disease states and float to McHenry, Huntley, and Woodstock hospitals as needed.
• Ability to communicate professional pharmacy knowledge effectively in written and oral form.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload while collaborating with pharmacists, technicians, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Nice to have

• Completion of a pharmacy residency program or equivalent hospital pharmacy experience.
• Training or knowledge in specialty areas such as neonatology, critical care, or oncology.
