Sr. Director of USG Partnerships & Use Case Development (Quantum Computing)

What you will do

• Serve as the primary contact for U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratories, including ORNL, LBNL, ANL, LLNL, LANL, and PNNL.
• Build technical relationships with laboratory directors, quantum information science research leads, and user facility managers.
• Identify DOE mission use cases in materials science, grid optimization, chemical catalysis, high-energy physics, and related scientific fields.
• Translate scientific requirements into quantum algorithms, application roadmaps, workflows, and capabilities.
• Coordinate joint research proposals, CRADAs, SPPs, and collaborations with DOE counterparts.
• Track DOE funding opportunities, RFIs, and laboratory solicitations, while identifying potential dual-use commercial applications.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in quantum physics, computer science, chemistry, applied mathematics, or a related STEM field.
• 10+ years of experience working with or within the DOE National Laboratory complex or a federal R&D environment.
• 10+ years of experience in quantum computing applications, including chemistry, materials science, condensed matter physics, AI/ML, nuclear physics, high-energy physics, plasma, or fusion.
• Deep understanding of quantum algorithm design, error correction, fault-tolerant computation, resource estimation, and algorithmic primitives.
• Experience optimizing algorithms across the computing stack, transitioning capabilities from NISQ to partially and fully fault-tolerant systems.
• Experience with hybrid workflows, high-performance computing, scientific accuracy, quantum advantage analysis, and research leadership.
