TL;DR
Quantum Engineer, Calibration & Benchmarking (Quantum Computing): Developing, optimizing, and executing calibration and benchmarking protocols for superconducting QPUs with an accent on experimental measurements, performance analysis, and system-level optimization. Focus on identifying QPU bottlenecks, validating new architectures, improving automated tune-up frameworks, and collaborating with hardware, software, design, simulation, and fabrication teams.

Location: Hybrid role based in hirify.global Finland in Espoo or hirify.global Germany in Munich

What you will do

  • Perform calibration and benchmarking on latest-generation quantum processing units.
  • Develop and improve calibration protocols and optimization strategies for large-scale processors.
  • Analyze experimental data to identify QPU performance bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
  • Measure multiple iterations of superconducting qubit devices and provide feedback to design, simulation, and fabrication teams.
  • Contribute to system-level optimization, QPU validation, deployment preparation, and calibration software development.
  • Collaborate across hardware, software, and system engineering; at senior level, mentor junior team members and support cross-team technical initiatives.

Requirements

  • M.Sc. in Physics, Quantum Engineering, or a related field for junior-level candidates.
  • Ph.D. in Physics or a related discipline, or equivalent quantum technology experience.
  • Postdoctoral research or equivalent industrial experience in quantum technologies for senior-level candidates.
  • Strong understanding of quantum mechanics and quantum computing principles.
  • Experience with Python programming and scientific data analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and attention-to-detail skills for complex experimental data.

Nice to have

  • Experimental experience with superconducting qubits and calibration techniques.
  • Familiarity with optimization algorithms and techniques.
  • Experience with experimental quantum hardware or calibration workflows.
