Staff Scientist II (Environmental Science)

Location: Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, United States; travel to project sites throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding region is required.

Salary: $63,000 starting annual salary; final compensation depends on qualifications and licensing status.

What you will do

• Support environmental permitting and regulatory compliance for transportation, infrastructure, and environmental projects.
• Support PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike projects, including environmental documentation and NEPA clearance activities.
• Conduct wetland delineations, stream assessments, field surveys, and natural resource investigations.
• Support threatened and endangered species investigations, including bat and bog turtle habitat assessments.
• Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and regulatory correspondence.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary environmental teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, or a related scientific field.
• 2–4 years of relevant environmental consulting experience.
• Experience with environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, NEPA documentation, and environmental review processes.
• Knowledge of Section 404 and Chapter 105 permitting and Pennsylvania environmental regulations.
• Familiarity with wetland delineations, natural resource investigations, and field data collection.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.
