Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Mechanical Engineering

Location: Hybrid working model in Beijing, Shanghai, or Milan

Salary: For Milan positions only: minimum €41,500 for Associate Editor and €55,000 for Senior Editor

What you will do

• Help shape, develop, and establish Nature Mechanical Engineering, launching in 2027.
• Handle original research papers, select manuscripts, oversee peer review, and make publication decisions.
• Contribute to content development and editorial strategy across mechanical engineering.
• Commission and edit Reviews, Perspectives, and Comments, and write editorials.
• Collaborate extensively with editors across the Nature portfolio.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions.

Requirements

• PhD and a strong research track record relevant to mechanical engineering.
• Broad scientific knowledge and training.
• Excellent literary and communication skills.
• Ability to absorb and evaluate new areas of research.
• Particular interest is given to experience in mechanical materials, manufacturing, or thermal engineering.
• Applications must include a cover letter, CV, and a discussion of a research article suitable for Nature Mechanical Engineering.
