Profit Center Manager (Commercial Property)

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa; primarily office-based

What you will do

• Lead divisional underwriting for Commercial Property across Sub-Saharan Africa and manage production, profitability, and portfolio targets.
• Own Profit Centre P&L, business plans, expense budgets, forecasts, reporting, and operational service levels.
• Review, analyse, and underwrite risks within authority while providing technical direction to underwriters.
• Negotiate terms with clients and brokers and lead the development, negotiation, and approval of large insurance programmes.
• Drive new business, retention, cross-selling, pipeline development, and strategic product opportunities.
• Lead performance, talent, succession, audit, compliance, and regulatory management activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and an insurance qualification.
• FAIS compliance and Regulatory Examination RE5.
• 7–10 years of short-term insurance experience, including at least 3 years in the relevant line of business.
• At least 2 years of business management experience.
• Experience in risk analysis and pricing, distribution, insurance products, policies and regulations, and portfolio management.
• Leadership skills including negotiation, customer focus, business acumen, problem solving, change management, and talent development.
