TL;DR
Full Time Design Consultant - AllModern (Retail Interior Design): Creating personalized room designs and guiding customers through furniture selections, layouts, materials, and purchases in a physical retail store with an accent on interior design, spatial planning, and customer-focused sales. Focus on building 2D/3D room views, translating customer needs into shoppable plans, and managing consultations, sales-floor interactions, and store support in a fast-paced environment.
Location: AllModern-Dedham, MA (Legacy Place Plaza), physical retail in-store. Full-time schedule of 30–40 hours per week with evening and weekend availability required.
Salary: $24.50 per hour, with possible bonuses, commissions, and other compensation.

What you will do
- Lead design consultations and advise customers on furniture, room layouts, materials, finishes, and product selections.
- Create 2D/3D room views, mood boards, and presentations using design software.
- Translate customer needs, style, and budget into functional, shoppable design plans.
- Build customer trust, develop sales opportunities, and close purchases.
- Balance appointments, sales-floor interactions, team collaboration, floor sets, and replenishment.
- Support a positive and safe in-store customer experience.
Requirements
- 2+ years of sales experience, preferably with higher-priced products or in design-related retail.
- At least 1 year of experience in interior, architectural, or graphic design.
- Knowledge of spatial planning, color theory, and design trends.
- Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, DesignFiles, POS systems, and Salesforce.
- Strong communication, customer service, prioritization, and collaboration skills.
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays; ability to work in a physical retail environment and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education in a design-related field.
- Experience with SketchUp, DesignFiles, Floorplanner, Icovia, or similar design tools.
