Backend Software Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Design realistic backend coding tasks covering feature implementation, bug fixes, and authentic software engineering workflows.
• Develop deterministic verifiers that accept valid solutions and reject incorrect implementations.
• Build and validate solutions involving scalable services, APIs, debugging, performance optimization, and automated testing.
• Review code quality, correctness, maintainability, and compliance with technical requirements.
• Define evaluation criteria, document assumptions and edge cases, and incorporate security considerations where applicable.
• Apply independent technical judgment throughout task development and review.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on backend development experience with Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, C++, or a comparable language.
• Experience building scalable backend services and APIs.
• Practical experience with debugging, performance optimization, automated testing, and code review.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and foundational computer science concepts.
• Ability to independently analyze technical problems and develop reliable solutions.
• For the Senior Software Engineer track: a bachelor’s degree from an institution in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or Ireland is required.
