TL;DR
Sensing & Instrumentation Engineer (Cryopreservation): Building sensing hardware and mixed-signal instrumentation for organ-scale reversible cryopreservation with an accent on faint biological signal acquisition, PCB design, and real-time FPGA control. Focus on integrating sensors, electronics, firmware, and software into reliable instruments, while solving complex measurement, noise, and organ-interface challenges.

Location: Bay Area, United States; Workplace: On-site

Company

hirify.global is developing organ-scale reversible cryopreservation technology to preserve donated organs at subzero temperatures without ice formation and rewarm them uniformly for transplantation.

What you will do

  • Design, build, and debug sensing hardware for organ preservation systems.
  • Develop electronic instrumentation for measuring faint biological signals.
  • Own mixed-signal PCB design from schematic capture through layout, fabrication, and bench bring-up.
  • Use FPGAs for real-time acquisition timing, data streaming, and instrument control.
  • Integrate sensors, boards, firmware, and software into reliable instruments.
  • Build test fixtures, experimental setups, and control software for sensor validation on real organs.

Requirements

  • Strong command of circuit theory and measurement physics, including impedance, noise, signal integrity, sampling, and electromagnetics.
  • Experience taking analog and digital circuits from schematic through PCB layout and bench bring-up.
  • Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, FPGAs or embedded systems, and object-oriented programming.
  • Ability to reason from first principles, make order-of-magnitude estimates, and debug ambiguous hardware problems.
  • Systems thinking across interfaces, integration, and complete instrument behavior.
  • BS or MS in electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent demonstrated expertise.

Nice to have

  • Experience spanning optics, photonics, chemistry, or organ science.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain project decisions, physical reasoning, and incorrect initial models in depth.

Culture & Benefits

  • Small, fast-paced, interdisciplinary engineering team.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Flexible time off and paid holidays.
  • Salary, equity, 401(k), FSA, and commuter benefits.
  • Daily lunch and dinner, snacks, monthly learning stipend, on-site fitness center, and quarterly team social budget.
