TL;DR
MSAD Systems Engineer V - Test Manager (Propulsion Systems): Developing high-fidelity propulsion models, control algorithms, and simulation architectures for aerospace programs with an accent on controllability studies, performance analysis, and physics-based modeling. Focus on designing verification-ready simulations, conducting Monte Carlo and sensitivity analyses, and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Location: Hybrid or remote within the United States, based in Folsom, CA; Reno, NV; Huntsville, AL; or Long Beach, CA. Travel is approximately 10%.
Base salary: $153,615–$199,400 per year, plus incentive plan eligibility.

What you will do
- Develop high-fidelity models and control algorithms for propulsion, flight control, and guidance subsystems.
- Build simulation architectures supporting design iteration, verification, validation, and configuration control.
- Conduct controllability studies, control topology definition, gain-tuning activities, margin analysis, trade studies, and Monte Carlo, sensitivity, and parametric analyses.
- Apply physics-based modeling to mechanical, thermal, aerodynamic, ballistics, propulsion, and actuation systems.
- Collaborate with GNC, software, systems, and test teams on integration, customer engagements, and technical reviews.
- Mentor engineers, lead technical trade studies, and support concept maturation and modeling and controls peer reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or another relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
- At least 10 years of modeling, simulation, and algorithm design experience.
- Expertise in systems engineering, modeling and simulation, control systems, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience leading and managing small technical teams and developing team members.
- Experience with MATLAB and MATLAB Simulink or similar tools.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance and meet U.S. Government ITAR/EAR eligibility requirements.
