Senior Financial Analyst

A public university and research institution whose Faculty of Medicine provides education, healthcare research, and related academic programs across British Columbia.

What you will do

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and five-year planning for multiple Faculty of Medicine units.
• Develop reporting tools, financial models, templates, guidelines, and processes using Excel, FMS, Workday, Integrated Reporting, Adaptive Planning, and related systems.
• Analyze budget variances, projections, funding requirements, cost-sharing arrangements, risks, and recovery plans.
• Build complex financial plans, alternative funding models, activity-based budgets, cost-benefit analyses, and sensitivity scenarios.
• Provide strategic financial advice to department and division leaders and support revenue generation, program sustainability, and new initiatives.
• Guide finance staff, act as a backup to the Finance Manager, and coordinate with internal departments, health authorities, ministries, foundations, and other external partners.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and completion of the CPA accounting program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least five years of related experience.
• Experience with fund accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, and management of accounting systems.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and analytical tools, with the ability to develop and monitor complex budgets and financial models.
• Experience or knowledge of FMS, EBOS, HRMS, Hyperion, grant administration, payroll, audit, and hirify.global administrative policies; hirify.global FMS certification is required.
• Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial managers and scientists, guide staff, manage complex matters, and work accurately under deadlines.
