Staff Detection and Response Engineer (AI Security)

Location: Hybrid; based in the San Francisco or Seattle office. The company also lists New York City and other US locations.

Salary: $146,000–$240,000 base compensation in San Francisco and New York City; $132,000–$216,000 in other US locations, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design and implement detections for prompt injection, model extraction, data poisoning, adversarial examples, and unauthorized access to training data or model weights.
• Build automated response playbooks and orchestration workflows that contain threats and remediate compromised inference endpoints.
• Coordinate incident response across Cloud, Application Security, Enterprise, and AI Security teams, including forensic investigations and executive communications.
• Hunt for sophisticated threats across GPU clusters and distributed training environments, analyzing model outputs and reproducing AI-specific vulnerabilities.
• Develop detection-as-code frameworks, onboard telemetry, and create dashboards for model security, GPU utilization, and sensitive research-data access.
• Maintain a 24/7 on-call rotation and improve detection coverage and automation as the AI systems evolve.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience in security operations, detection engineering, or incident response.
• Experience securing AI/ML infrastructure, high-performance computing environments, or distributed systems at scale.
• Strong programming skills in Python, KQL, SPL, or similar languages.
• Experience with SIEM platforms, detection technologies, and forensic investigations in complex distributed environments.
• Demonstrated ability to secure high-value intellectual property, automate incident response, and perform proactive threat hunting.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from the San Francisco or Seattle office.
