NewsNation Segment Producer, On Balance (New York or Washington)

Location: Onsite at network offices in New York, NY, or Washington, DC

Salary: $75,000–$90,000 per year, commensurate with experience

NewsNation is a national news network operated by hirify.global, producing nightly television programming.

What you will do

• Pitch story and segment ideas for the nightly On Balance program.
• Research political, domestic, and international news using online sources, video archives, and other information.
• Select the strongest elements and produce scripts, interview segments, and broadcast packages.
• Assist with preparing and executing accurate, compelling live newscasts.
• Keep executive and senior producers informed about story developments.
• Support the control room and perform additional production duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience producing for a national news program or newscasts in a top-10 market.
• Experience covering politics and government, with strong news judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to make quick decisions, adapt to change, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and manage multiple tasks.
• Experience coaching and mentoring staff at different experience levels.
• Proficiency with ENPS and flexibility to work different shifts.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
