What you will do

• Monitor and analyze network traffic, alerts, metadata, and event data to detect anomalous, malicious, and misuse activity.
• Validate intrusion detection alerts using packet analysis, protocol analyzers, and network traffic investigation.
• Characterize incidents, identify exploited weaknesses and attack methods, and reconstruct malicious activity.
• Document, escalate, and report incidents, including their history, status, impact, trends, and recommended actions.
• Coordinate with enterprise cyber defense staff to validate alerts and maintain situational awareness.
• Develop and deploy detection signatures in response to new or observed threats.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain DHS Entry on Duty suitability are required.
• 8+ years of relevant cyber defense analysis experience using industry-standard tools and leading-edge technologies.
• Experience with signature development and deployment, intrusion detection technologies such as Snort, incident handling methodologies, protocol analyzers, and packet-level analysis.
• Experience collecting and interpreting cyber defense data, conducting trend analysis, and reading signatures.
• BS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or a related field; alternatively, a high school diploma and 10 years of network investigations experience.

• Python programming experience.
• Strong mathematics and science background.
• Experience with the Carnegie Mellon SiLK tool suite.
• Professional certifications such as GNFA, GCIH, GCIA, GSEC, CASP+, CySA+, PaLMS, FedVTE, Network+, Security+, or relevant SIEM certifications.
