Patient Access Associate Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Mercy - Dayton Springfield Emergency Center in Fairborn, Ohio; candidates must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States. PRN flex schedule with 12-hour first, second, and third shifts, including weekends and holidays, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform patient admitting and pre-registration for hospital services.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, collect demographic and insurance information, and process physician orders.
• Complete eligibility, medical necessity, compliance, and insurance plan reviews to support clean claims and point-of-service collections.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient forms; obtain signatures and distribute required documentation.
• Operate the telephone switchboard and provide compassionate customer service to patients, guardians, physicians, and internal departments.
• Audit accounts, correct documentation issues, prepare statistical data, and support Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of customer service experience.
• Ability to work onsite in Fairborn, Ohio, with PRN flexibility across 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States.
• Must demonstrate curiosity and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvement.
• CRCR certification required within six months of hire; certification is company-paid.
