TL;DR
Principal Equipment Design Engineer - Power Generation (Power Generation/Mechanical Engineering): Leading the design, specification, procurement support, and technical assurance of equipment and auxiliary systems for 700 MW-plus thermal power projects with an accent on FEED, detailed engineering, and multidisciplinary coordination. Focus on reviewing vendor documentation, resolving complex engineering issues, and ensuring safe, reliable, compliant, and timely project delivery.

What you will do

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor mechanical engineers and designers.
  • Develop engineering execution plans, deliverable registers, manpower plans, and schedules.
  • Review and approve equipment data sheets, technical specifications, calculations, vendor drawings, and engineering deliverables.
  • Lead technical bid evaluations and provide procurement support for mechanical equipment and packages.
  • Coordinate mechanical engineering activities across disciplines, clients, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support design reviews, risk assessments, constructability reviews, value engineering, audits, and technical presentations while managing technical risks and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in power generation projects, including FEED, detailed engineering, and procurement support.
  • Experience with large-scale power generation projects of 700 MW and above.
  • Experience in combined-cycle, cogeneration, or conventional thermal power plants.
  • Knowledge of international engineering codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA, OSHA, ISA, NEC, and IEC.
  • Experience across equipment design, procurement, installation, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and performance testing.

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas, industrial utilities, or energy transition projects.
  • Working knowledge of Thermoflow, GT PRO, GateCycle, PEPSE, or equivalent power plant performance and simulation tools.
  • Experience with rotating or static equipment, industry committees, technical conferences, professional associations, or technical publications.
