Engineering Manager (Partner Proposition)

Location: London, United Kingdom. Remote-first working is available, with work abroad permitted for up to three weeks twice per tax year.

Salary: Competitive salary, disclosed during the first conversation. Annual discretionary performance bonus of 15–40%.

What you will do

• Lead the technical direction of a small engineering squad and ensure decisions align with company and engineering strategy.
• Work with the Product Manager to define priorities, OKRs, quarterly plans, and delivery milestones.
• Drive security, service-level objectives, on-call coverage, performance metrics, and operational excellence.
• Identify risks and blockers, coordinate mitigation, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop engineers, contributing to performance calibration and promotion reviews.
• Collaborate with UX, data, and other cross-functional leaders while fostering a healthy team culture.

Requirements

• Experience managing a team of engineers and taking responsibility for technical decisions.
• Knowledge of gRPC, GraphQL, React, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes; experience with Go is preferred.
• Experience defining team goals, prioritising work, setting OKRs, and co-leading annual and quarterly planning.
• Experience identifying risks, improving security practices, and driving service-level objectives and operational excellence.
• Ability to onboard, train, coach, and develop engineers, resolve interpersonal conflicts, and collaborate across functions.
• Intermediate awareness of customer and market insights and the ability to communicate strategy clearly.
