What you will do

• Deploy, configure, patch, upgrade, and administer MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and other database management systems.
• Manage databases in virtualized and containerized environments, including VMware, Kubernetes, Linux, persistent storage, and stateful datasets.
• Implement database security, access management, auditing, backup and recovery, data retention, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Monitor and optimize database and operating-system health, performance, queries, storage, logs, and events using tools such as SCOM and SolarWinds DPA.
• Build database DevOps and automation solutions with Puppet, Azure DevOps, FlyWay, Bash, Python, and PowerShell.
• Handle incidents and changes through ITSM processes, coordinate with development, architecture, security, infrastructure, and service-management teams, and provide knowledge transfer.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and at least 9 years of IT experience.
• At least 8 years of experience administering large-scale enterprise ICT systems and 6 years administering mission-critical production databases with sensitive data.
• At least 5 years of experience with MariaDB or MySQL and PostgreSQL, plus at least 2 years with Kubernetes.
• Experience in on-premise, air-gapped environments, including containerized databases, persistent storage, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of conceptual and physical data modelling, normalization, entity-attribute-relationship design, microservices, enterprise architectures, and ITIL processes.
• English at B2 level or higher.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure or AWS, clustering, HAProxy, Patroni, Galera, MaxScale, Neo4j, Milvus, MongoDB, Cassandra, Microsoft SQL Server, AlwaysOn, and WSFC.
• Experience with VMware, ETL, OLAP, Power BI, database schema versioning, automated deployment, Terraform, and Azure DevOps/TFS.
• Knowledge of Agile methods, data-centre infrastructure, security, storage, networking, service management, data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
