Senior Compliance Officer (Aerospace)

Location: Remote in the United States, with a preference for candidates based in or near Alabama. The position is associated with Huntsville, Alabama.

What you will do

• Lead export control and trade compliance activities, including licensing, jurisdictional assessments, record keeping, and ongoing obligations.
• Develop and improve governance, risk, compliance, information security, and internal control frameworks.
• Coordinate compliance with customer, contractual, regulatory, and security requirements across international jurisdictions.
• Maintain compliance and risk registers, monitoring activities, management reporting, audits, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Support customer, supplier, and regulatory audits, assessments, due diligence, security questionnaires, and assurance activities.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, IT, Legal, Finance, Commercial, and People teams to embed compliance into daily business operations and deliver training.

Requirements

• Experience managing export control or trade compliance programs in aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience in governance, risk, compliance, information security, internal audit, regulatory affairs, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of export control regulations and experience managing ongoing compliance obligations.
• Experience developing policies, procedures, governance frameworks, and internal controls.
• Ability to interpret complex regulatory or contractual requirements and translate them into practical business processes.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, analytical, organizational, and risk judgment skills, with a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with ITAR, EAR, OFAC, UK Strategic Export Controls, EU Dual-Use Regulations, or other international trade compliance regimes.
• Experience supporting government contracts, defense programs, customer or supplier assurance, or government security programs.
• Experience with ISO 27001, NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, NIS2, internal audits, compliance reviews, or enterprise risk assessments.
• Professional certifications in governance, compliance, auditing, risk management, information security, or export controls.
