Senior Legal Counsel – Legal & Compliance, China

What you will do

• Negotiate, draft, and manage supply agreements, technology licenses, service agreements, and strategic partnership contracts.
• Provide day-to-day counsel on corporate matters, business operations, and strategic projects in China.
• Support intellectual property, data governance, cybersecurity, and privacy matters with headquarters specialists and external counsel.
• Translate headquarters policies and frameworks into practical local guidance under China’s evolving regulatory landscape, including PIPL, DSL, and CSL.
• Design, implement, and monitor compliance programs to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
• Manage external legal advisors and collaborate with worldwide Legal & Compliance teams on cross-border priorities.

Requirements

• Law degree from a top-tier university; an additional overseas degree is preferred.
• Qualified to practice law in China; international bar admission is a plus.
• At least 12 years of legal experience, including experience at a leading global law firm and in-house at a major multinational corporation.
• Strong experience in commercial transactions and general corporate work, with exposure to intellectual property, data privacy, or cybersecurity.
• Deep transactional and regulatory experience in China and understanding of international legal frameworks.
• Fluent English with excellent legal drafting and negotiation skills.
