Director Engineering (Biotechnology)

Location: New Albany, Ohio, United States; onsite engineering leadership for a 24/7 commercial manufacturing operation.

What you will do

• Lead engineering and maintenance teams supporting assembly and packaging lines.
• Ensure personnel safety, workforce training, and compliance with GMP standards and procedures.
• Maintain and improve plant capability, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Direct day-to-day engineering support, small projects, plant shutdowns, capital investments, and equipment improvements.
• Identify improvement opportunities, sponsor initiatives, manage performance indicators, and deliver targets on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with plant leadership, engineering, automation, technical authorities, capital project management, environmental health and safety, technology, and process development groups.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree plus 4 years, master’s degree plus 8 years, or bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of experience in manufacturing, packaging, or quality within pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotechnology companies.
• At least 4 years of direct people management or leadership experience.
• Experience leading an engineering department in a regulated GMP environment.
• Knowledge of GMP manufacturing equipment, equipment design, operations, FDA or equivalent regulatory requirements, and regulated environments such as OSHA and EPA.
• Strong strategic problem-solving, communication, organizational, delegation, mentoring, and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Work is associated with the United States manufacturing site in New Albany, Ohio.

Nice to have

• 12+ years of relevant experience and 8+ years in operations or manufacturing.
• 10+ years of experience in regulated environments.
• Experience managing multiple resource demands, prioritizing projects, and translating data into actionable solutions.
