Advanced Practice Provider (NP II or PA Il) - NIH/NIAID - Part Time (Clinical Research)

Location: NIH Campus, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Maryland, United States. On-site Monday through Friday, generally 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., excluding federal holidays; one weekend day per month may be required. Ad hoc telework is available based on team, protocol, and participant needs.

Salary: $102,300–$146,483 per year full-time equivalent; compensation varies according to scheduled part-time hours.

What you will do

• Assess participants through health histories, physical examinations, screening procedures, diagnostic testing, and clinical documentation.
• Provide protocol-driven medical interventions, patient education, referrals, care coordination, and phone triage.
• Support the Principal Investigator with informed consent, participant safety monitoring, protocol consultations, and clinical sign-out.
• Serve as an Associate Investigator by supporting protocol development, screening and enrollment, data management, and sample procurement and processing.
• Participate in clinical rounds, protocol meetings, staff training, manuscript writing, and conference presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or four years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree; foreign degrees require U.S. equivalency evaluation.
• At least two years of progressively responsible nurse practitioner or physician assistant experience.
• Appropriate NP or PA education, certification, and licensure eligibility, including documentation of a pending Maryland license.
• Knowledge of clinical assessment, counseling, diagnostic testing, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and primary medical management.
• Ability to conduct research according to FDA Good Clinical Practice, institutional SOPs, and Clinical Center policies.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; respirator use may be required following medical clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with ICH/GCP guidelines, clinical research ethics, and clinical protocol implementation.
• Clinical trial experience in vaccine or healthy-volunteer studies.
• Prior clinical experience in infectious diseases.
