Sr. Software Engineer (C/C++)

Base pay for Washington applicants: $248,830–$348,361.65 annually. Other site ranges may differ.

hirify.global develops reusable space vehicles and systems and is building TeraWave, a multi-orbit satellite communications network for high-speed enterprise connectivity.

What you will do

• Build high-performance layer-3 packet-processing applications in C/C++ using DPDK and FD.io VPP.
• Develop Linux kernel modules, device drivers, and hardware interfaces for custom platforms, SmartNICs, FPGA offload engines, and accelerators.
• Debug system-level performance issues, minimize context switching, and tune networking stacks for satellite links.
• Implement secure boot, runtime security monitoring, and hardware-backed credential management for embedded platforms.
• Provide technical leadership through deep-dive code reviews and mentoring of junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related STEM discipline, or 10+ years of software development experience.
• At least 8 years of C or C++ experience in Linux or embedded environments.
• Deep Linux kernel knowledge, including driver development, memory management, and system-level debugging.
• Experience with GDB, perf, eBPF, and Buildroot, Yocto, Bazel, or comparable build systems.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee.
• A standard background check is required; additional checks may apply to certain job profiles.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure experience with large distributed systems or device fleets at scale.
• Rust or Python for systems tooling and automation.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet, Linux networking, and custom routing protocols.
• Experience with mission-critical aerospace, automotive, medical, or other high-reliability systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot at assembly-code and hardware-diagnostics levels.
