Senior Big Data Engineer (FastAPI expert)

What you will do

• Design, develop, deploy, and support data engineering solutions for healthcare data.
• Build ETL pipelines that acquire, process, and load millions of electronic medical records into Databricks.
• Analyze, profile, integrate, and optimize large-scale medical datasets, including multi-terabyte and billion-record workloads.
• Own assigned workstreams and ensure quality, timely delivery, and reliable production operation.
• Guide junior and mid-level engineers through technical direction, mentoring, and task delegation.
• Conduct code reviews, define technical standards, and create automated unit and integration tests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Six years of experience with SQL, Python, and Scala, plus six years of data engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of Databricks, Apache Spark, Delta and Parquet formats, Azure Cloud Services, and big data batch processing.
• Experience designing complex ETL solutions, data warehouses, data integrations, data profiling, data quality, and data reporting.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and processes, such as Jenkins or GitLab, as well as database design, modelling, Agile delivery, and automated testing.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and technical mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Practical experience building production-grade APIs with FastAPI.
• Experience with healthcare or pharmaceutical data.
• Familiarity with AI-powered productivity tools such as Copilot or Cursor.
• Knowledge of algorithms and design patterns.
