Senior Director, Artificial Intelligence

Location: DC-Washington-TWP Headquarters, United States; on-site five days a week

Salary: $232,875–$388,125 annual

What you will do

• Develop and execute the enterprise AI strategy and multi-year roadmap with executive and functional leaders.
• Identify, evaluate, and prioritize AI opportunities across journalism, product, advertising, subscriptions, customer experience, and corporate operations.
• Lead cross-functional AI initiatives, portfolio coordination, governance practices, milestones, and performance measurement.
• Establish an AI Center of Excellence with reusable frameworks, technical guidance, evaluation practices, education, and implementation resources.
• Develop responsible AI governance and quality frameworks covering accuracy, reliability, bias, transparency, security, privacy, data use, and deployment.
• Advise executives and the Board on AI investments, risks, market developments, build-versus-buy decisions, and strategic opportunities.

Requirements

• Significant senior leadership experience in AI, technology, digital transformation, product, data, or innovation strategy within complex organizations.
• Experience leading cross-functional transformation initiatives with measurable business, financial, customer, or operational outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of artificial intelligence, generative AI, machine learning, large language models, retrieval-based systems, intelligent automation, and predictive analytics.
• Experience with AI architecture, model selection, evaluation, data quality, integration, security, scalability, latency, cost, and build-versus-buy decisions.
• Experience developing responsible AI governance, evaluation frameworks, model-risk practices, privacy controls, or security standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience; strong business acumen, communication, executive influence, and change-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in media, publishing, digital content, consumer technology, or information services.
• Advanced degree or active engagement with AI industry organizations, research, conferences, standards bodies, or professional communities.
