TL;DR
Senior Data Scientist (SQL/Python): Investigating incidents and analyzing complex datasets across search, supply, and commerce with an accent on root-cause analysis, linked data sources, and reusable solutions. Focus on identifying product opportunities, mentoring junior colleagues, and solving ambiguous cross-functional problems across the customer journey.
Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid model with office attendance required for a minimum of 60% of the time over a 12-week period. A 28-day work-from-abroad policy is available.

What you will do
- Investigate checkout errors, searches returning no results, conversion declines, and other incidents to identify root causes.
- Analyze recurring incident patterns and build reusable solutions that reduce investigation time.
- Work across search, supply, and commerce by linking datasets and data sources.
- Identify product and commercial opportunities from analysis and communicate them to relevant teams.
- Mentor junior colleagues and help improve problem-solving practices across the team.
- Partner with data scientists, data analysts, and cross-functional customer experience teams while balancing competing priorities.
Requirements
- Substantial senior-level data science experience.
- Strong SQL and Python skills for exploring, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets.
- Experience working across multiple business areas or functional pillars.
- Experience owning a business or functional area and taking responsibility for outcomes.
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior colleagues.
- Ability to connect detailed data from multiple sources and work effectively in ambiguous situations.
Nice to have
- Experience in a marketplace or similar technology-driven business.
- Experience with product analytics.
- Experience using AI tools alongside SQL and Python.
