Analytical Chemist II - 2nd Shift (Semiconductor)

Location: Austin, TX; site in Burnet, TX. Onsite second-shift role, Sunday through Thursday, with varying hours from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Four 10-hour shifts per week; weekend availability and flexibility for changing shift assignments are required.

What you will do

• Prepare and conduct routine and non-routine chemical and physical analyses using ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, IC, XRF, UV-Vis, NIR, KF, and related instruments.
• Document, process, review, transfer, and present analytical data to ensure conformity, traceability, validity, and support for production and customer needs.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware or software issues involving laboratory instruments, tools, chemicals, and consumables.
• Verify sample efficacy and ensure proper storage or disposal of samples and chemicals while maintaining laboratory cleanliness and trace-level data quality.
• Lead or support continuous improvement, method development, validation, and testing initiatives.
• Serve as an analytical subject matter expert on cross-functional teams and train personnel in sample analysis and laboratory tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining analytical instrumentation, including LC, LC-MS, IC, IC-MS, GC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, and ICP-OES.
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and disposal, laboratory safety, quality practices, and maintaining a clean workspace.
• Ability to complete laboratory work safely, accurately, efficiently, independently, and on time while balancing multitasking and teamwork.
• Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office; LIMS experience is preferred.
• Strong dexterity, eye-hand coordination, mechanical aptitude, and ability to perform repetitive laboratory motions safely.

Nice to have

• Experience with trace metals, cleanrooms, and advanced analytical instrumentation.
• Experience supporting semiconductor materials science or complex sample matrices.
