Director of Decision Science

Location: US-REMOTE

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 estimated base salary annually, plus bonus

What you will do

• Build, lead, hire, coach, and develop the decision science team.
• Set the function strategy, roadmap, priorities, success measures, and analytical standards.
• Partner with product, engineering, marketing, finance, and executive leadership to translate business questions into actionable analyses.
• Direct predictive, prescriptive, and causal modeling for product decisions, retention, pricing, and operating efficiency.
• Present findings to senior leaders, improve data literacy, and raise the quality of dashboards, metrics, written recommendations, and executive readouts.
• Work with data engineering and platform teams on data, tooling, infrastructure, privacy, and ethical use of student data.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or decision science, including at least 3 years managing and developing a team.
• Deep expertise in experimental design, causal inference, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
• Strong SQL skills and fluency in Python or R.
• Experience with modern data platforms and large-scale tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Spark.
• Ability to explain complex analysis to executives and defend methodologies to technical peers.
• Master's or PhD in statistics, economics, computer science, operations research, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience in education technology or B2B SaaS.
• Familiarity with subscription and product-led growth metrics, including retention, expansion, and adoption.
• Experience building an analytics or decision science function from an early stage.
