AWS DevOps Engineer (Cloud Infrastructure)

Location: Hybrid in Cheltenham, London, Hursley, Leicester, Manchester, Hampshire, or Gloucestershire, United Kingdom; up to 60% or 3 days per week in the office based on project requirements.

What you will do

• Build, deploy, configure, and maintain AWS environments and services using Infrastructure as Code.
• Support cloud migration and application modernisation initiatives on AWS.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployments, and operational tooling.
• Implement secure, scalable, resilient infrastructure aligned with hirify.global and public-sector standards.
• Monitor AWS environments, troubleshoot complex issues, and maintain service reliability and performance.
• Lead incident resolution, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Strong experience with AWS cloud services and DevOps practices, including automation, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Git-based workflows, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Knowledge of Bash/Shell, ANT, Docker, Liquibase, JIRA, and Confluence.
• Knowledge of AWS services including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, RDS, ECS/EKS, networking, and security.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and collaborate across development, infrastructure, security, and client teams.
• Pre-employment screening under the UK Government BPSS is required; additional SC or DV vetting may apply.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud migration, Agile delivery, modern cloud operating models, and public-sector or regulated environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, observability, and cloud-native architectures.
• AWS, Terraform, or Kubernetes certifications.
