Principal Software Engineer (Elasticsearch)

Base salary: €67,000–€106,000 per year

What you will do

• Define, lead, and contribute to the evolution of hirify.globalsearch search and indexing capabilities.
• Provide technical vision and direction for indexing, retrieval, query execution, and relevance infrastructure.
• Research advances in search infrastructure, data structures, and retrieval algorithms.
• Shape long-term technical roadmaps with partner and product teams.
• Mentor expert engineers and guide projects from technical design through completion.
• Contribute to a robust search experience, including improvements to Lucene.

Requirements

• Experience leading technical projects involving search infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Experience building and operating large-scale search platforms and high-performance software systems.
• Hands-on experience with hirify.globalsearch, Lucene, or Solr.
• Strong core Java skills, including advanced data structures, concurrency constructs, and modern language features.
• Experience defining technical vision for core search or retrieval systems and collaborating across teams.
• Strong communication skills, autonomy, and experience mentoring engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience contributing to open-source projects.
• Familiarity with different source-control workflows and continuous integration.
