TL;DR
Senior Scientist - R&D Purification (Biotechnology): Designing and optimizing laboratory-scale downstream purification and primary recovery processes for biologics manufacturing with an accent on chromatography, filtration, data analysis, and process development. Focus on evaluating emerging technologies, solving technical challenges through experimental design, and translating complex datasets into scientific recommendations.
Location: Slough, United Kingdom; on site 5 days a week

What you will do
- Design and execute laboratory-scale purification and primary recovery studies.
- Perform chromatography and filtration experiments and analyse complex datasets.
- Evaluate and optimise primary recovery technologies to improve process efficiency and performance.
- Assess and implement emerging downstream processing technologies.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and scientific recommendations.
- Collaborate with Analytical, Upstream, and Manufacturing Science & Technology teams while maintaining data integrity, safety, and laboratory organisation.
Requirements
- Degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
- Practical laboratory experience in downstream processing, including chromatography and filtration.
- Knowledge of downstream processing unit operations, process optimisation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong data analysis skills and the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Ability to design experiments and apply scientific principles to technical challenges.
- Strong communication, report-writing, collaboration, attention to detail, and quality focus.
