Purchasing Officer (Shipping)

Location: On-site in Piraeus, Attica, Greece

Privately owned shipping company headquartered in Piraeus, Greece, operating a growing fleet of modern eco tanker vessels and providing maritime transportation services worldwide.

What you will do

• Support daily procurement activities and the supply of goods and services to the fleet.
• Process purchasing requests from vessels and internal departments, obtain supplier quotations, and compare price, quality, delivery time, and technical requirements.
• Prepare purchase orders, coordinate supplier communications, and follow orders through final delivery.
• Coordinate the delivery of spares, stores, equipment, and services while addressing delays, discrepancies, and urgent vessel requirements.
• Maintain procurement records and supplier databases, support supplier evaluation, and reconcile invoices with quotations, orders, deliveries, and invoices.
• Contribute to cost-control initiatives, procurement reporting, process improvement, digitalization, and compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Shipping, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in the shipping sector.
• Very good written and spoken English.
• Good knowledge of MS Office applications.
• Strong organizational, follow-up, communication, and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail.
• Commercial awareness, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience with Danaos or maritime procurement systems.
