Systems Engineer II, Flight Electronics (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $119,543–$152,749 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

• Define avionics project scopes and requirements with cross-functional engineering teams from concept through production.
• Develop electrical architectures, system diagrams, and budgets covering power, telemetry, channel count, size, and mass.
• Analyze system faults and risks, create mitigation plans, and support FDIR and operational workarounds.
• Plan and execute avionics verification on flight and hardware-in-the-loop systems for launch, space operations, and reentry.
• Integrate Winnebago avionics systems, investigate system-level issues, and participate in mission operations.
• Build and operate HITL testbeds, ground infrastructure, test racks, and R&D equipment while improving test automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in Python programming and debugging.
• Experience with power supplies, modular DAQ systems, RTD and 4–20 mA devices, and general test equipment.
• U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status are required for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Experience taking vehicle electrical systems from concept through operational production.
• Experience setting up HITL testbeds, managing configuration control, and conducting system-level tests.
• Familiarity with Unix environments, command-line utilities, vehicle operating conditions, and test equipment development.
• Project or program management experience.
• Background in avionics hardware, FPGA engineering, electronics testing, or electrical systems engineering.
