Senior Spacecraft Mission Operations Engineer

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. U.S. person status and authorization to work in the United States are required due to ITAR-controlled technology.

Salary: $140,333–$179,314 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

• Develop, coordinate, execute, and lead on-orbit missions.
• Own the operations development cycle for mission-unique payloads, from mission profiles through execution.
• Work across engineering teams to improve mission operations and ensure mission success.
• Automate operational work by building web tools.
• Scale operational capabilities to support an increasing flight cadence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably aerospace, electrical, or computer science.
• At least 5 years of experience in real-time operations for complex, high-consequence systems.
• At least 3 years of experience developing software tools with Python, JavaScript, and/or HTML.
• Familiarity with spacecraft avionics, GNC, software, and thermal design practices.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for ITAR access.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of spacecraft systems experience.
• Previous spacecraft operator experience in a leadership role.
• Previous in-orbit spacecraft operations experience.
• Experience with Git, Atlassian products, and ground station networks.
