Senior Systems Engineer, Avionics

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. The role requires authorization to work in the United States and U.S. person status for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $140,333–$179,314 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

• Define avionics project scopes and requirements, guiding systems from concept through prototype and production.
• Develop electrical architectures, system diagrams, and power, telemetry, channel-count, size, and mass budgets.
• Analyze faults and risks, create mitigation plans, and support FDIR and operational workarounds.
• Plan and execute verification for avionics systems on flight and Hardware In The Loop hardware.
• Support mission operations, assess system health, and provide corrective recommendations for reentry commit criteria.
• Lead Winnebago avionics integration, ground infrastructure development, test-rack integration, and test automation improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in programming and debugging with Python.
• Experience with power supplies, modular DAQ systems, RTD and 4–20 mA devices, and general test equipment.
• Must work on-site in El Segundo, California, and meet U.S. work authorization and U.S. person requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience taking vehicle electrical systems from concept through operational production.
• Experience setting up HITL testbeds, managing configuration control, and conducting system-level tests.
• Familiarity with Unix environments, command-line utilities, and vehicle-condition test equipment.
• Strong project or program management skills.
• Background in avionics hardware, FPGA engineering, electronics testing, or electrical systems engineering.
