Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Location: Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom. Hybrid arrangement: 60% of the week at office locations or local sites and the remainder remotely.

What you will do

• Contribute to system design and architecture discussions for scalable machine learning products.
• Translate product needs into technical requirements with product teams.
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product managers, systems engineers, and analytics professionals across the software lifecycle.
• Deliver high-quality code and bring data science solutions into production.
• Review code, optimize technical performance, support production systems, and resolve incidents through root cause analysis.
• Apply software development lifecycle practices, improve engineering processes, and share knowledge across the engineering community.

Requirements

• Higher degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or another science discipline.
• Experience building scalable and resilient software systems and solving real-world business problems.
• Experience leading a small engineering team and contributing to high-impact data science projects in complex organizations.
• Knowledge of programming, machine learning, and MLOps; fluency in Python is preferred.
• Experience with data structures and algorithms, Git, monitoring, logging, alerting, and software development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
• Experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, cloud solutions, or Azure is relevant to the role.

Nice to have

• Experience with MLOps tooling such as feature stores and model lifecycle management.
• Experience building solutions for cloud and big-data environments, ideally Azure.
