Data Engineer, Mobile Game Analytics

Salary: USD 132,000–155,000 annually; base pay depends on work location, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Configure and operate partner-managed ETL pipelines for mobile game telemetry ingestion and transformation.
• Maintain silver and gold transformation layers in BigQuery and optimize performance and cost through partitioning, clustering, materialized views, and query tuning.
• Design curated data marts with documentation, ownership, and SLAs to support Mixpanel dashboards and self-service analytics.
• Migrate legacy Airflow pipelines to the partner platform without disrupting live reporting.
• Define tracking plans, events, properties, validation rules, and data contracts with game studios and Data Analysts.
• Build data quality and observability systems and contribute to engineering practices, including code review, documentation, onboarding, and AI/LLM-assisted SQL development.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Analytics Engineer delivering production data pipelines.
• Expert SQL and strong Python skills with hands-on BigQuery, Airflow or Cloud Composer, and GCP experience.
• Experience with medallion architecture, dimensional modeling, data warehouse optimization, and production engineering practices such as version control, CI/CD, and code review.
• Mobile free-to-play analytics experience, including telemetry, retention, LTV, ARPDAU, and game economy KPIs.
• Experience building data quality and observability systems with validation, anomaly detection, SLAs, and operational monitoring.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, plus strong collaboration and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with dbt, data observability platforms, and mobile attribution SDKs such as Adjust, AppsFlyer, or Kochava.
• Familiarity with mobile game revenue data, in-app purchases, ad monetization, Mixpanel, Tableau, or Looker.
