Process Technician, Mechanical (mRNA Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on GMP and non-GMP process and support equipment in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
• Troubleshoot equipment and system malfunctions, identify root causes, and develop corrective and preventive actions with equipment owners and vendors.
• Respond as the first-line technician to equipment issues and coordinate external service providers when required.
• Maintain cGMP-compliant paper and electronic documentation for maintenance activities.
• Provide technical expertise for autoclaves, washers, isolators, TFF and chromatography skids, filling lines, mixers, pumps, valves, and stainless-steel tanks.
• Supervise contractors, deliver maintenance-related on-the-job training, support investigations, and contribute to reliability and continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

• Trade qualification at Certificate III level; a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering may be considered alongside hands-on experience.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in a regulated environment; cGMP and sterile manufacturing experience are preferred.
• Hands-on mechanical experience with mechanical drive and process systems, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and mixing vessels.
• Knowledge of automated process equipment and PLC controls for basic troubleshooting, plus pneumatic and vacuum systems.
• Ability to investigate failures using structured problem solving, determine root causes, improve preventive maintenance strategies, and manage multiple assignments.
• Ability to work safely with LOTO, hot work permits, working-at-heights requirements, EHS procedures, and rotating on-call coverage.

Nice to have

• Experience working in sterile manufacturing.
• Familiarity with Generative AI tools for maintenance tracking, documentation, or reliability optimization.
