Senior Automation Engineer (Manufacturing Systems)

What you will do

• Own critical automation and digital manufacturing systems across the Melbourne site.
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and operational support for reliable, compliant manufacturing.
• Support Emerson DeltaV, MES, PLC/SCADA, historian platforms, and OT infrastructure.
• Design, configure, test, and implement system changes, upgrades, and integrations.
• Lead automation projects from design and commissioning through validation and operational handover.
• Support investigations, deviations, CAPAs, change controls, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, automation, electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of experience designing, implementing, or supporting manufacturing automation systems.
• Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS and PLC/SCADA platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, FactoryTalk, Wonderware, or iFix.
• Experience with MES, historian platforms, and manufacturing system integrations.
• Working knowledge of cGMP, GAMP, and Computer System Validation requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Syncade MES, PI Historian, IT/OT networking, virtualization, Active Directory, or SQL.
• Knowledge of EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC, industrial programming languages, serialization, robotics, vision systems, or batch management.
• Experience with FAT, SAT, CQV, validation, regulated system lifecycle activities, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
