Application Security Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in New York City, NY or San Francisco, CA

Salary: $180,000–$280,000 annual base pay, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead threat modeling, secure design reviews, and vulnerability management across SaaS and AI products and their infrastructure.
• Build and automate security controls for secrets, access, dependencies, and CI/CD workflows.
• Establish code, dependency, secrets, and dynamic application security testing, while coordinating penetration testing and vulnerability triage.
• Develop secure design and coding training and improve the routing and remediation of security issues.
• Respond to application security incidents and coordinate remediation and post-incident improvements.
• Support customer security conversations and the technical aspects of SOC 2 assurance work.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on application security experience, including threat modeling, security code reviews, and vulnerability remediation.
• Production software engineering experience in a complex codebase.
• Strong risk judgment and the ability to balance security with delivery speed.
• Experience using AI tools for security investigation, testing, or remediation and evaluating their limitations.
• Experience with large-scale, multi-tenant SaaS applications handling sensitive customer data.
• For US employment, authorization to work in the United States is required and verified through E-Verify.

Nice to have

• Experience securing AI/ML applications, including prompt injection, unauthorized tool use, and adversarial input protection.
• Familiarity with TypeScript, React, Go, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis, Snowflake, AWS, Kubernetes, and LLMs.
• Knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
• Experience as a first or early security hire or building security practices without an established playbook.
