Location: Remote (United States)
Base salary: $94,000–$138,500 per year, plus potential annual bonus, equity participation, and benefits.

What you will do
- Improve Conda, conda-build, and related plugins in collaboration with internal engineers and external open-source maintainers.
- Design and implement features that improve performance, user experience, and reliability.
- Own selected projects from requirements definition and technical design through delivery and production release.
- Contribute to the open-source community through GitHub, maintainer calls, and conferences.
- Use AI-assisted tools while maintaining a deep understanding of solutions and high code quality.
- Work asynchronously across a fully remote team spanning nine time zones and participate in Scrum ceremonies.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional Python development experience.
- Experience contributing to open-source projects through pull requests, code reviews, and community interaction.
- Experience working asynchronously with distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Experience using AI tools for implementation while maintaining solution quality and understanding.
- Experience with Scrum or a similar agile development process.
- Experience owning features from requirements definition through technical design and delivery.
Nice to have
- Experience with Rust or willingness to learn it for performance-critical components.
- Background in package management, dependency resolution, or CLI tool development.
- Experience benchmarking and optimizing performance in large-scale systems.
- Experience maintaining or contributing to widely used open-source projects.
- Experience at a fast-paced startup or an open-source-first, AI, or data science company.
