Location: Remote, United Kingdom. The role is available to candidates in the United Kingdom, Canada, USA, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, or Spain.

Salary: £24,479.00–£30,284.33 per year.

What you will do

  • Oversee production performance, publication schedules, copyflow, and portfolio health for approximately 70–80 journals.
  • Identify delays, low-copy issues, pipeline risks, and other production problems, coordinating resolutions with internal teams and supplier partners.
  • Act as the primary contact and escalation point for production-related issues across the journal portfolio.
  • Work with external supplier project managers to maintain agreed schedules, quality, and consistency.
  • Maintain accurate journal, article, and issue information across relevant systems.
  • Build relationships across peer review, commissioning, publishing, author, and editor communities while contributing to workflow improvements.

Requirements

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage a large portfolio, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-management skills for working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to understand overall portfolio performance.
  • Ability to interpret data and reports to identify issues, trends, and priorities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, and the ability to learn new systems and processes.
  • Full-time availability for a fixed-term position ending 31 May 2027.

Nice to have

  • Experience in publishing, journal production, content operations, or a related environment.
  • Experience managing publications, projects, or other deadline-driven portfolios.
  • Experience working with external suppliers, vendors, or outsourced teams.
  • Experience supporting or coaching colleagues or external partners.
  • Knowledge of academic or scholarly publishing and experience with workflow improvements.
