Development Editor (ELT)

What you will do

• Prepare author briefs with commissioning editors using market intelligence and audience needs.
• Identify suitable authors and contributors and manage contributor contracts, budgets, and project requirements.
• Guide authors and editors through content development, feedback, quality standards, and alignment with publishing briefs.
• Coordinate with publishing, design, media, and delivery teams to resolve issues and deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Create briefs and editorial materials for artwork, design, digital content, scripts, page plans, style sheets, and assets.
• Support copy-editing, rights clearance, audio recordings, video and photo production, and management of content across print and digital formats.

Requirements

• Degree-level education or equivalent.
• Formal ELT or TEFL qualification and demonstrable ELT/EFL teaching experience.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Experience with new media and digital projects, plus knowledge of publishing workflows and systems.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively with stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ELT markets and segments.
• Understanding of publishing technologies and content management systems.
• Knowledge of a second language.
