Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: Berlin, Germany (hybrid)

Salary: €80,000–€100,000 per year, plus stock options.

Early-stage AI startup building an audio intelligence layer and developer tooling for voice agents and Physical AI applications.

What you will do

• Own AWS infrastructure end to end, including Terraform, multi-account architecture, networking, IAM, EKS, databases, and CDN.
• Operate and improve the Kubernetes platform, including service mesh, certificates, secrets management, autoscaling, upgrades, and workload placement.
• Build platform observability with metrics, logs, alerting, and operational dashboards.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment roles for backend and frontend services.
• Implement technical controls for SOC 2, maintain evidence, plan capacity, and manage infrastructure costs.
• Participate in on-call rotations, write runbooks, and lead incident reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production infrastructure experience with AWS and Terraform.
• Deep experience with EKS, including node pools, autoscaling, networking, IP planning, upgrades, and workload placement.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate certification.
• Experience designing least-privilege IAM and access controls and explaining security decisions to auditors.
• Experience as the single accountable infrastructure owner at a company, with strong Linux, networking, and debugging skills.
• Ability to automate repeatable work and manage infrastructure changes as reviewed, tested, and reversible code; daily use of AI coding tools.

Nice to have

• SOC 2 or ISO 27001 controls and evidence experience.
• Experience with Istio, Temporal, GitHub Actions with OIDC, cost optimization, CloudFront, or WAF.
