Senior Design Engineer (Drivetrain)

Location: Wuxi, Jiangsu, China; the role includes global team night meetings and 10%–25% travel based on project needs.

What you will do

• Lead gear and shaft component design for torque converters, transmissions, and axles, including requirements alignment, 3D modeling, structural FEA, design verification, 2D drawings, field follow-up, teardown, and failure analysis.
• Lead component development and sourcing activities, including supplier assessment, quotations, APQP, Gateway reviews, validation, and PPAP review.
• Manage construction-industry component projects, budgets, priorities, risks, and customer or business-partner feedback.
• Explore new technologies, improve manufacturing processes, and document and promote engineering best practices.
• Provide engineering support for drivetrain component resourcing and development across broad machine products.
• Collaborate with drivetrain engineering, NPI, purchasing, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, suppliers, and global engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, material processing engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and forging-part development.
• Experience with mechanical component design, FMEA, 3D modeling, structural FEA, design verification, 2D drawings, OMSA, and failure analysis.
• Good project and risk management, presentation, planning, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Experience with Creo or similar CAD software.

Nice to have

• Gear and shaft design experience in construction, mining, energy, or transportation machinery.
• Drivetrain system and component design or manufacturing experience, especially with gears and shafts.
• Knowledge of torque converters, transmissions, axles, forging, heat treatment, machining, and inspection.
