Location: 100% remote within Australia, with the role based in Sydney and flexible remote arrangements from Adelaide, Melbourne, and Brisbane. International applicants may apply with relocation to Australia required.

What you will do
- Lead the creation of complex, high-resolution digital matte paintings and environment projections.
- Define the artistic vision and technical approach for complex shots and sequences with directors and VFX supervisors.
- Develop efficient workflows and techniques to solve creative and technical challenges.
- Oversee the integration of matte paintings into final shots with lighting and compositing teams.
- Provide creative leadership in project meetings and reviews while mentoring artists.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a digital matte painter in a senior or lead role at a high-end VFX studio.
- Mastery of Photoshop and deep knowledge of 3D software such as Maya and Nuke, including camera projection techniques.
- Exceptional portfolio demonstrating composition, lighting, color, and photorealism.
- Extensive knowledge of the VFX pipeline and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, including experience mentoring artists and collaborating with senior creative leadership.
