TL;DR
CG Junior FX Artist (Houdini): Designing and animating smoke, clouds, fire, lava, and water effects for a CG production with an accent on physical dynamics, technical quality, and visual aesthetics. Focus on building look tests, integrating effects into the show pipeline, and meeting production deadlines while collaborating with FX, lighting, and CG teams.
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Applicants must have resided within BC as of December 31, 2025. Remote work is available within BC; artists in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland may choose hybrid or in-studio work.
Salary: CAD 1,100–1,300 per week.

What you will do
- Design and animate smoke, clouds, fire, lava, and water effects in Houdini.
- Produce look tests based on provided concepts.
- Collaborate with FX supervisors, FX TDs, lighting, and CG teams on technical and creative approaches.
- Work within the show structure and production pipeline.
- Complete assigned tasks and meet production deadlines.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Houdini dynamic tools and physical dynamics.
- Experience rendering with Mantra.
- Strong technical skills within a production show structure.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, communicate effectively, and solve problems.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and have resided in British Columbia as of December 31, 2025.
- Prior experience on a CG animated feature or series is an asset.
Nice to have
- Basic knowledge of Nuke.
- Basic knowledge of RenderMan and/or Katana.
