Principal Data Engineer (GenAI)

Location: Onsite in Raheen, Limerick County, Ireland; Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Salary: €62,300–€119,000 annually

What you will do

• Architect and optimize secure, scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for real-time and batch processing.
• Design data lakes, warehouses, data models, and schemas for reliable access to large datasets.
• Implement CI/CD, fault tolerance, observability, monitoring, and alerting across the data platform.
• Ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulated-environment standards, including 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, and CSA.
• Define technical standards, design complex solutions, and use GenAI and MCP/orchestration platforms to improve infrastructure efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across data engineering initiatives.

Requirements

• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala, with deep SQL and relational database experience.
• Experience with NoSQL, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, workflow orchestration tools, and containerization technologies.
• Knowledge of data security, governance, compliance, and regulatory standards in regulated environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• For the Principal level: 8+ years of relevant experience, including 1+ year in biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences and 3+ years on AWS or Azure.
• Ability to work onsite in Raheen, Limerick County, Ireland, during the specified Monday–Friday schedule.

Nice to have

• Stream processing experience with Kafka or Flink.
• Familiarity with MES, LIMS, and QMS enterprise systems.
• Cloud certifications and experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environments.
