Associate Director Process Engineering / Principal Research Scientist II (Biotechnology)

Location: North Chicago, Illinois, United States; onsite at the North Chicago hub

Salary: $141,500–$268,500 USD annual base pay

What you will do

• Lead early-phase drug product manufacturing process development for synthetic molecule candidates.
• Drive candidates from concept through commercial-ready manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with development CMC teams and intended commercial manufacturing sites.
• Develop technologies and scientific innovations that expand small-molecule formulation capabilities.
• Troubleshoot complex process and material issues across direct compression, wet and dry granulation, hot melt extrusion, tableting, encapsulation, and film coating.
• At the Associate Director level, provide technical leadership, shape department strategy, and manage team members where applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field with 16 years of related experience; or a master’s degree or PharmD with 14 years; or a PhD in science or a related field with 8 years.
• Proven ability to innovate, including a history of new or improved product releases.
• Experience with drug product manufacturing platforms, powder material properties, process troubleshooting, and scale-up execution.
• Strong project leadership and ability to collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to support safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards.
